Sunsafe ITZ is better known as Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone. A chemical sunscreen agent that’s very oil soluble and requires relatively low concentrations to achieve high SPF values (it gives an SPF 12.5 at the max allowed concentration of 10%). It protects in the UVB and UVA II range (but not in UVA I) with a peak protection at 310 nm. It’s particularly suitable for water-repellent and water-resistant formulations. It is an organic, oil-soluble sun filter that absorbs UV-B radiation.Diethylhexyl syringylidenemalonate can increase critical wavelength in sunscreens (a measure of protection against UVA rays) and boost SPF in sunscreen formulas. At room temperature it is a viscous yellowish liquid or a low-melting solid.Requires only very small concentrations to achieve a high Sun Protection Factor (SPF). Sunsafe ITZ is being used in a wide range of cosmetic products to provide an appropriate Sun Protection Factor (SPF) in sunscreens or to protect cosmetics against UV radiation.Diethylhexyl syringylidenemalonate It is hardly absorbed by the skin, rarely leads to irritation, causes no allergic reactions and there is no evidence of any (geno) toxic or carcinogenic effect. Very soluble in cosmetic emollients an can readily be incorporated in the oily phase of emulsions. Because of its hydrophobic nature it’s particularly suitable for water-repellent and water-resistand formulations.
