Thickner

Description :

A Thickner agent or thickener is a substance which can increase the viscosity of a liquid without substantially changing its other properties. Edible thickeners are commonly used to thicken sauces, soups, and puddings without altering their taste; thickeners are also used in paints, inks, explosives, and cosmetics.

Hydrocolloids: These are water-soluble polymers that form gels or increase viscosity when dissolved in water.

Starches: Cornstarch, potato starch, and tapioca starch are used in cooking and food processing.
Bentonite: Used in cosmetics and drilling fluids.
Kaolin: Used in ceramics and as a filler in various products.
Gelatin: Used in food products like jellies and marshmallows.
Casein: Used in cheese and other dairy products.
Toxicity: Most thickeners used in consumer products are generally considered safe when used as directed. However, some synthetic thickeners or those 
               used in industrial applications may have specific handling requirements.
